Russia on Saturday suspended its participation in Ukraine’s grain export agreement, citing a drone strike on its Black Sea fleet in the annexed Crimean peninsula. According to the Russian army, the attack was carried out in part from the shipping corridor used for grain transport.
According to the Coordination Center (JCC) in Istanbul, which oversees the safe passage of ships through the humanitarian corridor, several freighters loaded with grain have left Ukrainian ports in recent days, despite Russia suspending the agreement. On Tuesday, however, the JCC said no cargo ships will pass through the humanitarian corridor on Wednesday.
The agreement, signed in July under the auspices of the United Nations and Turkey, has already made it possible to export 10 million tons of grain from Ukraine since the start of the war of aggression.
