Eleven days after the private plane of the German entrepreneur Rainer Schaller († 53) crashed off the coast of Costa Rica, the search has finally been called off. No further evidence has been found, Costa Rican coast guard director Martín Arias said Tuesday (local time). Four of the six people on board are still missing.
“We’ve done everything humanly possible,” Arias said. So far, only the bodies of a child and a man have been found. The identity of the dead was not initially disclosed. According to Security Secretary Jorge Torres, relatives of one of the victims visited the accident site on Tuesday.
McFit founder Schaller, his partner, the two children, another German and the Swiss pilot were on board the private plane at the time of the October 21 crash. The plane was coming from Mexico and crashed into the sea near the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. The causes of the crash remained unclear. (SDA)
