Sefedin Bejadini (68) never thought he would ever have a flock of sheep – especially not in Switzerland. Because the Albanian comes from Pallçishti i Poshtëm, a village in Tetovo, North Macedonia. His life changed when he came to Switzerland, according to Albora, a news site for the Albanian-speaking diaspora in Switzerland. Their “Fol Shqip Show” portrayed the 68-year-old.
“It was 1994 when a Swiss gave me 11 sheep,” says Bejadini. «Since then I do this work, which is also a hobby for me. Now that I am retired, I devote myself completely to the sheep and I enjoy that,” says Bejadini. He now has 95 animals. He loves everyone. “You have to take good care of your sheep.”
During the visit he shows which tools he uses in his work and explains which pens he uses for the sheep. «For sheep, the electric fence that is installed is not at all dangerous, because without touching it, they understand whether it is charged with electricity or not. So they don’t approach him at all.” But it’s not safe for humans.
Just keep sheep as a hobby
Actually, Sefedin Bejadini had more sheep under him. But some he had to give it away because there were too many and not enough space. Every sheep has a number so that he could identify them and also immediately notify someone, if there was one get lost would.
He is happy when others share the joy of the sheep with him. Despite all the fun he has with the animals, he especially advises young people to keep sheep only as a hobby and not to try to make a lot of money with them. “Other jobs are a higher priority right now.” (lrc)
