Four people arrested on Sunday in the Caucasus republic of Dagestan for suspected attack plans provided money and weapons for the deadly attack on the Crocus Town Hall in a Moscow suburb, according to Russia’s FSB secret service. The FSB announced Monday that the day before it had arrested four people in the Dagestan region “directly involved in financing and providing terrorist assistance to the perpetrators of the March 22 terrorist attack on Moscow’s Crocus City Hall.”

More than 140 people were killed in the attack on the hall in a suburb of the Russian capital Moscow. The Islamic State (IS) jihadist militia has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee announced on Sunday that it had arrested three people “who were plotting a series of terrorist crimes.” On Monday, the FSB said four foreign citizens were arrested during the operation in the city of Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, and in Kaspiysk, about 10 kilometers away.

According to the FSB, they were “preparing an act of terror in public facilities in Kaspiysk.” When they were arrested, they were said to be in possession of a ready-made improvised explosive device and automatic weapons.

The Interfax news agency quoted an FSB video in which one of those arrested said: “I brought weapons to them, these guys who attacked the Crocus town hall. I brought them weapons from Makhachkala.”

Following the attack on Crocus City Hall, Russian authorities initially announced the arrest of twelve people, including four suspected attackers who came from Tajikistan. IS is active in the former Soviet republic in Central Asia.

The Anti-Terrorism Committee announced on Monday that it was formally accusing another suspect of carrying out a “terrorist attack”. “At this time, “ten suspects have been charged” in the course of the investigation, the statement said. The tenth suspect was in custody until May 22, the press service of the Moscow judiciary said.

The man Yakubdschoni Yusufsody is accused of “terrorism”. Moreover, a few days before the attack, he is said to have ‘transferred money to an accomplice’ ‘to secure housing for the terrorists’. He is also believed to be from Tajikistan, as Russian news agencies reported, citing information provided to the court.

On Friday evening, Russia’s domestic secret service FSB announced that it had arrested three “nationals of a Central Asian country” who were planning a bomb attack in southwestern Russia.
