Three suspects arrested after girl’s death in Mexico 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend accuses him of sexual and physical abuse

As the Guerrero Public Prosecutor’s Office explained, a man and a minor were arrested on Saturday “for the crime of femicide”; Another man had been arrested the day before on similar charges.

The Public Prosecution Service initially did not want to say whether the detainees were two of the people who had also been attacked the day before.

According to media reports, the girl’s family received anonymous calls demanding ransom on Wednesday after her disappearance. The child’s body was later found on a country road near the town of Taxco. As a result, residents on Thursday blocked one of the city’s main streets, which is popular with tourists but has long suffered from rising crime.

Security camera footage had previously been circulated showing several suspects apparently placing a black bag in the trunk of a car, raising suspicions that the contents could be the child’s body.

An angry mob then marched on a house, from which they dragged away two men and a woman they suspected of being involved in the crime. The three were doused alive with gasoline, set on fire and beaten with clubs. The woman died of her injuries and the men had to be treated in hospital.

Mexico has been plagued by fighting between rival drug cartels and violence for decades. Kidnappings and murders are commonplace. Most victims are adult men. Lynchings of suspected criminals are not uncommon; experts attribute this development to the apparent impunity in the country. A total of 1,423 lynchings were recorded between 2016 and 2022, according to a report by the Autonomous National University of Mexico. (sda/afp)
