Elon Musk, 52, warns that Ukraine could lose even more territory and risk losing access to the Black Sea. The Tesla and SpaceX entrepreneur wrote on his platform

Musk is not just a silent observer of the war. The Starlink satellite service provides the backbone for drone strikes by the Ukrainian armed forces. The Ukrainian government said last year that about 42,000 Starlink terminals were used by the military, hospitals, companies and aid organizations. Starlink is considered so important to Ukrainian operations that even the Pentagon has contributed to the cost of Kiev’s Starlink access.

“Any fool could have predicted this.”

But Musk was never a warmonger, but rather a warner. Kiev’s counter-offensive, which was launched last year and quickly failed, has already turned out to be a mirage, he now says. Neoconservative forces believed in Russia’s weaknesses and Ukraine’s opportunities. “It was a tragic waste of life for Ukraine to attack a larger army that had deep defenses, minefields and more powerful artillery,” Musk said. “This when Ukraine had no armor or air superiority. Any fool could have predicted that.”

“A year ago I recommended that Ukraine,” continues the world’s richest person, “be entrenched and use all its resources for defense. Even then, it is difficult to preserve land that does not have strong natural barriers.”

Warns of the fall of Odessa

It is “unlikely that Russia will take over all of Ukraine, because the resistance of the population in the West would be extremely strong. But Russia will certainly gain more land than it has now.”

Then Musk makes the dire prediction: “The longer the war goes on, the more territory Russia will gain until it hits the Dnieper, which is difficult to overcome. If the war lasts long enough, Odessa will fall too. Whether or not Ukraine loses all access to the Black Sea is, in my opinion, the real question that remains open. I recommend a negotiated solution before that happens.”

Kiev has no weapons

The lack of Western military aid to Ukraine has been cited by observers as the main reason for Kiev’s setbacks on the front. “The United States and European countries remain reluctant to provide Ukraine with equipment that could prove operationally or strategically significant and significantly support Ukrainian offensive efforts,” according to the latest analysis from US military strategists. Think tank “Institute for the Study of War”.

The West, it is said, “fears Russian escalation or retaliation. However, decisions by Western states to limit Ukraine’s defense capabilities to prevent escalation have not stopped Russia from escalating its war against Ukraine.
