Less than 40 minutes passed between the Dali’s departure from the Port of Baltimore and its collision with the Francis Scott Key Bridge, which subsequently collapsed, taking people with it. The rescue work has now been stopped. A minute-by-minute log can provide more clarity on how the collision occurred.

  • All around 12:28 pm The freighter Dali began to leave the port of Baltimore.
  • All around 12:51 pm local time, the ship left the port of the American city on Tuesday. At this time the clock in Switzerland read 5:51 am.
  • A few minutes later 1:04 am, the Dali is on its way out of the port as planned. The ship is sailing to the northwest.
  • All around 1:10 am then the big 180 degree turn to change course to the southeast: everything is still going according to plan.
  • 1:24 hours showed the clock as the light on board flickered for the first time.
  • Just a minute later, at 1:25 a.m., the smoke began to rise. The ship was approximately 200 yards from the Francis Scott Key Bridge at the time.
  • All around 1:26 am For some inexplicable reason, the Dali changed course slightly to the southwest and headed straight for one of the two main pillars of the bridge.
  • Between 1:26 and 1:27 The light on the freighter kept flickering, sometimes it was completely dark.
  • All around 1:27 am local time, the Dali collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing the bridge to collapse. The Coast Guard immediately sent emergency services to the scene of the accident.
  • In return for 1:40 am Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) personnel were notified by emergency dispatch that they were receiving an increasing number of calls about people in the Patapsco River.
  • Approximately ten minutes later, the first BCFD responders arrived 01:50on sight.
