Internal Corona files of the German Robert Koch Institute are scandalous: there is really so much tinder in the Covid protocols

The RKI files cause heated discussions. Not least because large parts of the documents had been blacked out.

“Shocking revelations”, “Political influence” and “The experts lied” – social networks are flooded with outraged comments. The reason is the published ‘RKI files’, so-called scandal protocols from the early days of the corona pandemic.

But what is it? Did the Robert Koch Institute RKI, which fulfilled the task of the Swiss Corona task force in Germany, lie to the population? Did you know that the masks don’t work at all? Blick answers the most important questions.

What are the “RKI files”?

These are the protocols of the German Corona crisis team of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The RKI’s recommendations formed the basis for the Corona measures announced by the German government, such as lockdowns, school closures and face mask requirements. The protocols run from January 2020 to April 2021, the early days of the pandemic.

Until now, these protocols have been kept secret. The corona-skeptical online magazine Multipolar recently denounced and published the protocols.

The recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) often formed the basis for the Corona measures imposed by the German government, such as lockdowns, school closures and face mask requirements.

What explosive revelations could be contained in the RKI files?

1. The tightening of the risk assessment announced on March 17, 2020 was allegedly carried out on political instructions

The minutes of March 16, 2020 state: “A new risk assessment was drawn up this weekend. The intention is to scale up this week. The risk assessment will be published as soon as X(redacted) gives a signal.” According to ‘Multipolar’, the blacked out name is that of a politician. There would be no technical basis for the upgrade. If the unknown person were a politician, this would be a is evidence that politicians interfered with the RKI’s decisions. However, no evidence of this can be found in the minutes. According to the RKI, it concerns an employee.

2. No evidence of benefit from FFP2 masks

The minutes of October 30, 2020 state: “There is no evidence for the use of FFP2 masks outside of occupational safety.” For Corona skeptics, this is proof that even the RKI found masks useless – wearing masks was still mandatory in many places. Hajo Zeeb, professor of epidemiology at the University of Bremen, contradicts this criticism in an article in the Tagesschau. It takes a very long time before there can be ‘scientific evidence’. It would have taken far too long to examine the evidence.

3. Lockdowns were ordered, even though their consequences are worse than those of Corona itself

The minutes of December 16, 2020 state: “The consequences of the lockdown sometimes have more serious consequences than Covid itself.” This sentence was spread online as proof that measures had caused greater damage than the virus itself. Explosive: On the day in question, the second German lockdown came into effect. However, the sentence in the minutes refers to the course of the pandemic in Africa. There would be “indirect negative effects” as a result of the lockdowns, such as gaps in tuberculosis treatment and the suspension of routine vaccinations.

Are the RKI files a real scandal?

So far, no scandal has been discovered in the mountain of files. The publication of the RKI files did not cause outrage, especially in expert circles. On the contrary. Isabella Eckerle, professor of virology at the University of Geneva, writes further

German top virologist Hendrik Streeck also seems unimpressed in an interview with various German media. Rather than being a scandal, the RKI minutes would show “how open discussions were conducted at the RKI.” However, he criticizes the fact that so much has been left out of the files. “It doesn’t help build trust if these kinds of things are ignored.”
