The trial of a 38-year-old photographer who allegedly sexually assaulted 17 women during photo shoots began Monday in a Paris court. According to the indictment, the man allegedly posed as a fashion photographer, looking for models on contact platforms for the crimes he was accused of.
Following the same pattern, he is said to have lured the women to his photo studio in 2015 and 2016 and reduced them to a defenseless state with alcohol or knockout drops. He then allegedly pressured them to take revealing photos and eventually brutally abused the women, the newspaper “Libération” and broadcaster BFMTV reported, citing investigators.
Some say they were dragged to the ground by their arms or hair before being sexually assaulted, and others were forced to perform oral sex. When the indictment detailing the crimes was read in court, several victims left the courtroom, some in tears.
According to his lawyers, the suspect denies all allegations. The defendant, dubbed the ‘Tinder rapist’ by the French media, is said to have only admitted to investigators that he had used his profession as a photographer as a pretext to lure women to satisfy his sexual greed. But these did not stop his actions.
As broadcaster BFMTV reported, before the trial began, the defendant only admitted morally bad behavior and presented himself as a sex addict. He claims he has had 600 sexual partners in ten years. He faces a prison sentence of up to twenty years. (SDA/neo)
