Angelika H. may return to Germany soon.

The case caused horror last year: German Angelika H.* (32) drove her Audi at 90 km/h through the Italian town of Santo Stefano di Cadore. The reason for this may have been an outburst of anger. The victims of the rage were a grandmother, a father and his son – they were run over by the Germans and died.

Angelika H. was subsequently taken into custody in a women’s prison in Venice. But after only 260 days, the dead woman is released on March 25! The verdict comes as a surprise. Besides the trip, the 32-year-old’s behavior in prison was less than exemplary. In early January, she attacked a cellmate and guards during a depressive episode.

There is a risk of 18 years in prison

The trial against Deutsche is still ongoing. She faces an 18-year prison sentence for the triple murder. Lawyer Giuseppe Triolo had previously tried unsuccessfully to have his client declared mentally incompetent.

Elena P.* (42) lost her mother, her son and her husband due to the death journey. For them it is clear: “No condemnation, no compensation can give us back what we have lost.” According to the 42-year-old’s lawyers, Angelika H. is no longer allowed to go a day without supervision.

Can H. go home until the trial?

During the preliminary hearing, eight experts assessed Angelika H.’s mental state. They stated that she had limited insight at the time of the crime, but a “high degree of social danger”.

The judge must now decide on the Germans’ punishment. It is also up for discussion whether H. can be placed under house arrest in Germany until the trial or whether he will be treated in a hospital. (obf)
