Drama on the golf course: huge alligator bites off a fisherman’s hand

A fisherman casts his line on a golf course in Florida on Sunday. On the golf course in Leesburg there are several ponds that, in addition to fish, also contain larger species: alligators.

A 10-foot male alligator suddenly jumped on the fisherman and bit his arm, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

An eyewitness told local TV station Fox 35: “While the man was on the ground, the alligator bit his hand and the two rolled over.” The animal finally let go when it bit off his hand.

“The hand is gone!”

The alligator left the profusely bleeding man there and retreated into the water. Several people called 911. Fox 35 has published some of these calls. “The hand is gone!” says a caller, audibly shocked. Another said on the emergency call that the fisherman was running around bleeding and groaning in pain.

A few minutes after the calls, a rescue helicopter arrived and took the injured man to an Orlando hospital. Nothing is known about his health. It didn’t matter whether his hand could be saved. After the incident, game wardens captured the vicious alligator and removed it from the pond.

Alligator attacks are a recurring occurrence in Florida, which can also be fatal. Two women have been killed in recent months after animal attacks.
