“You have destroyed so much in me!”: Now the victim (12) of the Viennese gang rape speaks out

After the alleged gang rape in Vienna, the victim is now speaking out. The 12-year-old and her mother (35) gave an interview to the Kronen Zeitung. “You destroyed so much in me!” said the girl. Since the rape and sexual abuse, she has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. The gang of 13 to 18-year-olds who allegedly sexually abused the girl in different places for months are at large – a cause for concern for the mother: “This is a nightmare for my daughter and the entire family. us. We fear they will ambush her, attack her again or even kill her.”

The girl’s greatest wish is ‘to be far away from Vienna. By the sea, in the sun – on a lonely beach. I would build sand castles there, with turrets and thick walls around them.” Now the 12-year-old is no longer allowed to go out alone. Her mother talks about the time when her daughter became increasingly withdrawn: “At night I heard her creeping through the apartment, crying. Her performance at school deteriorated.” Only later did she learn about her daughter’s terrible experiences. Teachers had not informed them about absences. The crimes are said to have always taken place during school hours. Only when an acquaintance told her that one of the perpetrators had told him that the girl ‘was available to everyone through his intervention’ did she file a complaint.

Were there multiple victims?

The main suspect, a 16-year-old Bulgarian, is said to have fled. Out of “fear of hostility”, he and his family returned to Bulgaria, the teenager’s lawyer, Manfred Arbacher, 49, told Bild. After interrogation, the young men were all released – meaning the main suspect was now able to escape. The level of psychological pressure on the victim was evident from chat messages with content such as: “If you give me a blowjob, I will delete the video” – accusations that Arbacher believes are untrue. “He did not approach her, she wrote to him,” said the lawyer. In his statement, his client allegedly said that everything was always consensual, that she wanted sex just as much and that he did not know that she was only twelve.

According to Sascha Flatz (45), the girl’s lawyer, it is unimaginable: “She seems childish, no one can claim that they thought she was 15 or 16.” In the meantime, based on statements from his client, he fears that there are more victims: “I know that he and two of his friends have also had sex with other girls. But I don’t know this one.” One of the suspects, a 16-year-old Syrian, confirmed that pornographic images of other girls also existed: “There was a Telegram group where some things were sent and I also got some things through Snap. But I don’t know these girls myself.” Flatz will seek the maximum sentence: seven and a half years in prison. (Unpleasant)
