Russia deals with false evidence – the night update without photos Kiev: Refugees should stay abroad in winter – the night update without photos

Russia deals with false evidence, India speaks out on the issue of the atomic bomb and the Israeli president talks about secrets – the night update on the 246th day of the war.

Zelenskyy complains about unprecedented terror against the energy sector

“Russian terrorists have created such difficult conditions for our energy workers that no one in Europe has ever seen or experienced anything like it,” Zelenskyy said in his daily video address on Wednesday, referring to the Russian airstrikes. He also criticized what he believed was insufficient implementation of the grain agreement. Russia continues to hinder the export of Ukrainian food by sea. As a result, 175 ships were stuck in traffic waiting to be cleared. “It is clear that Russia intends to re-escalate the global food crisis to reduce the threat of famine.”

The 44-year-old’s words were mainly aimed at the governments in Africa, which Ukraine is increasingly campaigning for. “It is very important that in this continent, where the Kremlin’s influence is traditionally strong, they hear the Ukrainian point of view and know the full truth about what is really happening,” he stressed. Selenskyj had previously hosted the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the first head of state from Africa since the outbreak of the war. Embaló said he had brought an offer for talks from Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he had met in the Kremlin the day before. However, Moscow has not yet confirmed the offer.

Current developments in the Ukraine war in the live ticker:

Russia Shows False Evidence of Nuclear Accusations Against Kiev

With apparently fake photos, the Russian Foreign Ministry tried to give the impression that it had evidence of the construction of a “dirty” – i.e. nuclear-contaminated – bomb in Ukraine. One of the photos that appeared on the ministry’s English-language Twitter account belongs to the Slovenian Radioactive Waste Agency and dates from 2010, the internet newspaper Ukrajinska Pravda reported on Wednesday. The Russian accusation that Kiev plans to use a radioactive bomb is being interpreted in the West as a possible pretext for further escalating the war. Kiev rejects the allegations.

India vs Russia: Neither side can use a nuclear bomb

Despite this, Russia on Wednesday renewed its accusations that Kiev was planning to use a “dirty bomb”. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke with his colleagues in Beijing and Delhi on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Shoigu warned that neither side to the conflict in Ukraine should use an atomic bomb, the Defense Ministry in New Delhi said.

Russia Tests Its Nuclear Forces

Russia tested the operational readiness of its strategic nuclear forces by launching ICBMs. The maneuver, which lasted several days, was expected and therefore did not cause any concern for Western military personnel, despite international tensions over the Russian war of aggression. It was already the second major maneuver of this type this year. In the course of his war in Ukraine, Putin put nuclear weapons on high alert as a warning to NATO not to get involved. NATO is also currently practicing the defense of the European alliance area with nuclear weapons in the “Steadfast Noon” maneuver.

UN hopes to extend grain deal

After talks in Moscow and Washington, the United Nations hopes to extend the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain across the Black Sea. “We are very interested in an immediate extension of this. It’s important to the market. It is important for continuity. And I’m still relatively optimistic that we can do it,” UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths said in New York on Wednesday. Without an extension, the agreement would expire on November 18. Russia had previously threatened to cancel the important agreement that saw about nine million tons of grain shipped from the war-torn country since late July.

Israeli President: There Are Secrets We Cannot Share

Israel’s head of state, Izchak Herzog, has defended his country against criticism that it has failed to provide sufficient aid to Ukraine. “We understand the enormous distress and pain of the Ukrainian people,” Herzog told CNN on Wednesday (local time). There are weapons that cannot be exported at all, Herzog said. “There are things we don’t want to fall into the hands of our enemies. There are secrets we can’t share.” Selenskyj had repeatedly asked Israel to provide weapons to eliminate the threat of Russian air strikes with Iranian combat drones.

Another prisoner exchange completed

Ukraine assured the homecoming of another ten of its soldiers of Russian prisoners of war. One officer and nine enlisted soldiers have been released, the head of Ukraine’s presidential bureau, Andriy Yermak, said on Telegram.

What’s important on Thursday

Kremlin chief Putin appears at the plenary meeting of the international discussion club “Valdai”. A comprehensive speech is expected from Putin, in which he is also likely to discuss the current situation in Ukraine and Russia’s goals. (sda/dpa)
