Two dog owners made a gruesome discovery in Berlin at the end of February. They were walking through Prenzlauer Berg Park with their dogs when the four-legged friends suddenly attacked. The women then discovered a severed thigh in a bush.
With the help of DNA analysis, researchers were now able to determine the identity of the victim. According to the Berlin police, the suspect is a 42-year-old man named Marcel Falk. Apparently he was recently homeless. The Public Prosecution Service assumes that there was murder, as they said when asked by the Tagesspiegel. Medical amputation is excluded.
But the background to the crime remains unclear. That is why the police are now asking for the public’s help and are looking for witnesses who know Falk. (sam)
