He complained, raged and now has to leave Thailand. At the end of February, Manfred K.* (45) attacked a doctor who was relaxing with a friend on the stairs of his beach villa. The Swiss filmed the attack himself. The attack caused widespread commotion on Phuket. Manfred K. then apologized and explained that it was an accident. He slipped.

But it was of no use. Entering the stairs has serious consequences. The Swiss must leave the country. His work visa was revoked by immigration authorities, as “Der Farang” reports. The authorities justify the decision by saying that Manfred K. threatens social peace on the island.

“Thailand is my home”

A heavy blow for Manfred K., who only a few days ago claimed that he loved Thailand. “I am Swiss, but Thailand is my home,” he said in a public apology.

K. has been running an elephant sanctuary for years. The authorities are therefore also examining the elephant park. The Swiss can appeal against the revocation of their visa. He has 48 hours to do this. Until then, he remains in the custody of Phuket Immigration Police. It is possible to apply for temporary release. At the same time, proceedings are underway against Manfred K. for personal injury.

Next attack in department store

Before the decision to revoke the Swiss’ visa, up to 300 demonstrators gathered last week in front of Manfred K.’s beach villa and demanded his deportation.

Manfred K. is not the only Swiss to make negative headlines in Thailand. Beat L.* (60) hit a Thai woman (58) in the city of Trang on Tuesday and was arrested. The injured woman was taken to hospital. Her nose was broken, one eye and her back bruised. The reason for the attack is said to have been a collision in a department store.

According to immigration authorities, Beat L. has a long-term visa and has been living in a house in a village since his retirement. His Thai wife reportedly left him after several arguments.
