After failed lawsuit in London: Trump must pay legal costs Now it’s all about the sausage for Joe Biden

Former US President Donald Trump has been ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds in legal fees over a failed civil lawsuit in London. The British news agency PA reported this on Thursday based on court documents. Accordingly, Trump must cover the other side’s full legal costs, as a London High Court judge ruled. According to the suspect, these can amount to more than 600,000 pounds (approximately 700,000 euros). Trump must now pay £300,000 in advance. A specialized judge would then have to determine the exact amount, the PA report continued.

Trump had sued Orbis Business Intelligence, a consultancy founded by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele. The background was a dossier on Trump that was made public in 2016.

The so-called Steele dossier cites, among other things, reports that the Russian secret service has images of Trump’s alleged participation in sex orgies in Russia and uses them as a means of pressure. This includes an alleged incident at a Moscow hotel in 2013 in which prostitutes allegedly urinated on a bed in Trump’s presence.

Trump has always denied that he attended sex parties in Russia and has taken the consultancy firm to court. The 77-year-old former president accused the company of unlawfully using private data. He demanded compensation for the loss of reputation suffered. However, a judge had already dismissed the lawsuit before the main hearing. According to PA, Trump has not appealed, according to the court documents.

After his competitor Nikki Haley withdrew from the Republican primaries, nothing stands in the way of Trump’s renewed candidacy for president in this American election year. Opinion polls predict the race between him and the Democratic incumbent, US President Joe Biden, is likely to be close. In the US, Trump is currently facing four criminal proceedings on various serious charges. Among other things, he must answer in court for his attempts to subsequently overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. (sda/dpalyn)
