Houthi fighters attack cargo ship off Yemen coast – at least two dead British combat troops in Ukraine? No evidence, but a lot of shouting

Another cargo ship was attacked off the coast of Yemen on Wednesday. At least two sailors were killed, according to American broadcaster CBS. Other people were injured. It is the first Houthi attack with fatal consequences.

According to UKMTO, the ship was previously forced to change course by a ship believed to belong to the Yemeni Navy. According to the Vesselfinder investigation service, the ‘True Confidence’ sails under the flag of Barbados.

The Houthi militia in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the attack on the ship. In a statement Wednesday evening, it said the militia had attacked the cargo ship with “a range of capable naval missiles.” As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the ship. According to the Houthi, the crew ignored earlier warnings.

In recent weeks and months, the Islamist Houthi militia in Yemen has repeatedly attacked civilian merchant ships. The Houthis say they stand in solidarity with the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip and are targeting cargo ships with alleged connections to Israel, the US or Britain. They had recently announced that they would intensify their attacks.

One of the most important shipping routes for world trade runs through Yemen, along which cargo ships from the Indian Ocean reach the Mediterranean Sea via the Suez Canal in Egypt. In response to the attacks, the US and Britain carried out several military strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
