Here’s what the Super Tuesday results mean: Trump’s triumph is a blow to Biden

The loser of the Republican primaries on Super Tuesday is: Joe Biden (81). The president wasn’t even eligible among Republicans.

And he still lost. For example, in the town of Eagle Pass in Texas, on the Mexican-American border. The Democrats have had the majority here for decades. Four years ago, Biden received significantly more votes than Donald Trump (77).

Many Democrats are also tired of illegal immigration

But something changed this Super Tuesday. More people participated in the Republican primaries because they wanted to vote for Trump instead of Biden in the fall. Many Democrats are also tired of illegal immigration. They see chaos at the border and blame Biden. They believe Trump will get the problem under control.

Eagle Pass isn’t the only place where Democrats defected to Republicans on Super Tuesday. And immigration is not the only problem. Left-wing Democrats are turning away from Biden over his Middle East policy. Blacks, Hispanics and women are turning to Trump because they believe he will bring economic growth.

“Game over” for Nicki Haley

The outcome of the Republican primaries on Super Tuesday is more of a footnote. Trump clearly defeated his last Republican competitor, Nikki Haley (52).

As expected. For Haley it’s game over.

What’s more exciting is what lies between the lines of the results. Why Trump dominates and why many are turning away from Biden.

Once again, Trump is demonstrating unparalleled political instincts. The rugged New Yorker recognizes what moves people. And that is immigration.

There are no more people crossing the border illegally than during his time in office. The danger has not increased. There is no invasion, but the people are restless. Your fears are real.

Trump sees it and he talks about it. Democrats, on the other hand, take their constituents’ votes for granted.

Parallels with the 2016 election campaign

The situation is reminiscent of 2016, when Trump took on Hillary Clinton (76). At the time, Democrats on the East and West Coasts failed to recognize that people outside New York or Los Angeles not only think differently but also participate less in the economic recovery than people in urban centers.

Worse still, Clinton called them “deplorables.” Trump spoke to and with them – and became president.

A similar picture emerges with illegal immigration. Trump talks about it, Biden remains silent. “The momentum is with the Republicans,” said Eagle Pass Democratic Chairman Juanita Martinez, 67. She met Joe Biden in Philadelphia last October, held his hand and told him to take care of the border. “He just listened and didn’t say anything,” Martinez said. He postponed the subject for months.

Republicans are making a pilgrimage to the border

The Republicans are different. Almost every week, a governor, senator or representative makes a pilgrimage to the Texas border, gives a press conference and addresses voters. “The Republican strategy is working,” said Jerry Morales, a Democrat from Eagle Pass.

It sounds like a cry for help to the White House: finally talk about what concerns people.

If the Democrats continue to fail to do this, the conclusion after this Super Tuesday is that they will probably have to prepare for a president named Trump.
