David Slater (63) belonged to a close circle in the US Air Force in 2022. The 63-year-old has also attended top-secret briefings and meetings. In concrete terms, it was about assessing the situation in Ukraine.
In February 2022, Slater met an alleged Ukrainian woman on a dating website. After a few chat messages, the woman started asking strange questions in March, after the Russian invasion. “Dear Dave, do NATO and Biden have a secret plan to help us?” she allegedly asked him, according to documents available to the New York Post.
What David Slater responded in either case is unclear. However, the woman’s messages show that he provided the woman with secret information. She wrote to him: “My dear Dave, thank you for the valuable information, it is great that two officials from the US are traveling to Kiev.”
Even when asked very specific questions, the American soldier does not seem surprised. “Dave, I hope that NATO will prepare a very unpleasant “surprise” for Putin tomorrow! “Are you going to tell me?” the woman wrote to him. The 63-year-old answered her promptly. The two’s “relationship” lasted until April 2022.
The U.S. Department of Justice confirmed, “Slater did provide the individual with classified national defense information.” He passed on classified information about military targets in the Russian war against Ukraine ‘around March 28, 2022’.
The former intelligence officer is due to appear in court in the US state of Nebraska next Tuesday. Under US law, he faces a prison sentence of up to ten years. (obf)
