US President’s son Hunter Biden appears to testify in Congress. Pope Francis was again in hospital

The son of the US president, Hunter Biden, appeared for questioning behind closed doors in Congress in connection with the investigation into a possible impeachment of his father Joe Biden.

Hunter Biden did not answer questions from the press Wednesday ahead of the hearing. An opening speech to the American media shows that the 54-year-old once again emphasized during the Audit and Justice Committee hearing that his father had played no role in his company. “I did not involve my father in my company,” the text says. “Not during my work as a lawyer, not during my investments or transactions at home and abroad, not as a board member and not as an artist.”

Hunter Biden initially resisted the subpoena for the interview. He argued that his testimony could be selectively reproduced and manipulated behind closed doors by Republicans. He therefore insisted on testifying only in public. Several committee members wanted to take him to court for contempt of Congress. Ultimately, he agreed to a hearing. The company of Hunter Biden, who has to answer for possible tax crimes, among other things, is repeatedly linked to his father.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are continuing their investigation into possible impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden. They accuse the Democratic president of abusing his public office for his family’s financial gain. However, they have not yet provided clear evidence of serious misconduct.
