Four monks murdered by rebels in Ethiopia Legally smoking weed in Germany: almost nothing is left of the original idea

Four monks were kidnapped and then murdered in an attack on a Christian monastery in Ethiopia. The monastic brothers were kidnapped from the Zequala Monastery in the East African country, about 50 kilometers from the capital Addis Ababa, the pontifical aid agency ‘Aid for the Church in Need’ announced on Sunday. She was subsequently murdered. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church had earlier said that “armed fighters” attacked the monastery in the Oromia region on Tuesday and kidnapped the four monks. A fifth pastor was injured.

Ethiopian authorities blamed rebels from the so-called Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), whose uprising, which began in 2018, has turned large parts of Ethiopia’s largest region into a lawless area. The OLA claims to be fighting for greater self-determination for the Oromo, the largest ethnic group in the multi-ethnic state with more than 120 million inhabitants. But the militia is also accused of violating human rights, including ethnically motivated massacres. The OLA has not yet responded to the attack. The group has previously denied accusations that it is attacking civilians. (sda/dpa)
