An unknown number of people are believed to have been buried when a mine collapsed in Venezuela. The accident has been confirmed, but the number of possible victims is still completely unclear, Secretary for Citizen Security of the Bolívar state government, Edgar Colina Reyes, told radio station Radio Fe y Alegría Noticias on Tuesday (local time).
Accordingly, the Bulla Loca mine in La Paragua, south of the city of Ciudad Bolívar in the interior of the South American country, collapsed. Figures circulated on social media of at least 47 deaths and more than 100 buried. Civil protection rescue teams and crime experts were expected to arrive at the accident scene early Wednesday morning to assess the situation, Reyes said. There was initially no further information.
