American wins 300 million in the lottery and gets nothing – now he takes Alain Berset to court in Kiev +++ Defective helicopter pilot probably dead

John Cheeks from Washington DC has sued the US Powerball lottery. Because they published his numbers as winning numbers and later claimed it was just a technical error. Accordingly, Cheeks hasn’t seen a dime of its potential $340 million in profits.

But from the beginning.

It was on January 6, 2023, when Cheeks suddenly thought he was extremely rich: the winning numbers for the Powerball lottery game matched his ticket. He won $340 million. But when the alleged winner hands over his ticket to the Lottery and Gaming Office (OLG), his claim is rejected.

Wangen tells the BBC:

«I was told that my fate was worthless. The guy just wanted to throw it in the trash.”

But Cheeks insists on keeping his fate and goes straight to his lawyer, Richard Evans. He is now suing Powerball and Washington-based lottery company Taoti Enterprises on eight different counts, including breach of contract, fraud, negligence and infliction of emotional distress.

“Accidental mistake”

According to court documents, Taoti Enterprises claims Cheeks’ lottery numbers were a “technical error.” On January 6, 2023 – the day Cheeks purchased its lottery ticket – a quality team conducted tests on the website. A series of Powerball test numbers were then “accidentally” published on the website, including Cheeks’ lottery numbers.

The problem is that these test numbers did not match the numbers from the official drawing. The ‘accidentally’ published figures remained online for three days.

Evans now wants the lottery to pay his client damages equal to the Powerball jackpot plus the interest he would have earned per day.

If Cheeks actually gets this amount, he plans to open a trust bank to support potential homeowners.
