Nayib Bukele’s victory in El Salvador has been confirmed

He Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) of El Salvador confirmed this Saturday the victory of Nayib Bukele, of the ruling party Nuevas Ideas (NI), in the February 4 presidential election, which gave the incumbent 84.6% of electoral support.

The Electoral Authority has issued a final report on the supervision of the elections of the President and Vice President of El Salvador for the period 2024-2029, in which it confirms the results of the elections.

The document, published on Saturday evening on the TSE’s social networks and signed by five judges of that entity, states that Nuevas Ideas had a total of 2,700,725 votes (84.6%).

Leftist Farabundo Martí Front for National Liberation (FMLN) got 204,167 (6.40%), and the right-wing Nationalist Republican Alliance (Arena) got 177,881 (5.57%).

Match of humanistic center Our Time, who took part in the presidential elections for the first time won 65,076 (2.04%).

The formations Fuerza Solidaria and Fraternidad Patriota Salvadoreña (FPS) registered 23,473 (0.74%) and 19,293 (0.60%) respectively.

6,214,399 citizens were invited to the elections on February 4, 3,268,466 voted, with a turnout of 52.60 percent.

There were 15,064 abstentions (0.46%) and 1,760 disputed votes (0.05%), according to data from the Electoral Court.

Bukele thus becomes the first president of El Salvador to be re-elected, despite the constitutional ban, since the country emerged from decades of military dictatorship and entered democracy.
