Couple arrested in Poland: man eats power and dies suddenly

A man in Poland died in hospital from food poisoning after eating homemade brawn. Two women were treated in a hospital with serious symptoms of poisoning, a local police spokeswoman told news agency PAP. According to the information, they had also bought and eaten homemade muscle sores at a market stall in Nowa Deba, in the south-east of the country.

On Sunday evening, police arrested a couple from the southeastern Polish region of Mielec. The 55-year-old woman and her 56-year-old husband raise pigs and sell homemade meat and sausage products at the market in Nowa Deba.

20 kilos of meat and sausage products were seized

The researchers were able to trace all three cases of poisoning to the muscle power sold by the couple. “Those arrested stated that they had sold several portions of it,” the police spokeswoman said. After the national security center warned RCB against consuming the power through an SMS service, two other people came forward who had bought this product at the market in Nowa Deba but had not yet eaten it.

The police seized 20 kilos of meat and sausage products from the market stall operators. These and muscle mass samples are now being examined in the laboratory. According to the tabloid “Fakt”, the couple is being investigated for manslaughter and endangering the lives and health of several people. (SDA)
