It doesn’t stop: the number of accidents in Tyrol’s ski areas is increasing. The latest incident: On Wednesday, a Danish woman (15) fell from a chairlift in the Silvretta area – falling 12 meters into the depths.

It is still unclear why she could not sit down properly when boarding. Her father and two other people were initially able to hold her, but lost their grip between the second and third supports. After the twelve-metre fall, she remained on the edge of the slope. As the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” reports, she was first cared for by the pister rescue team and then flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by rescue helicopter.

Not the first crash

Reports have been increasing in Tyrol since the beginning of the year: on January 9, a gondola fell nine meters in the Hochoetz ski area, seriously injuring four passengers. The cause was three trees, one of which fell and damaged the anchorage of the gondola. Although the four prisoners – a Danish family – were lucky to survive, their relatives cannot breathe a sigh of relief. The father (49), his brother (46), his son (20) and his daughter (19) are in hospital with serious injuries.

A 47-year-old Dutchman also died in an accident on Tuesday. He came off the slopes in the Nauders ski area and crashed into a tree. Although first aid was provided immediately and an emergency physician arrived by helicopter, all resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. It is still unclear why he suddenly left the slope.

Snowmobile in a tree

Two people from Munich were also seriously injured in an accident in Tyrol this weekend. The two men (43 and 44) had a snowmobile accident on their way home shortly before 3 a.m. The two ended up on a toboggan run, where the driver lost control. The snowmobile crashed into a tree, throwing the two Germans into the woods. Despite serious head injuries, one of the men was able to call for help.
