Putin prefers Biden as US president, not Trump

President of Russia Vladimir Putinlast night, in an interview for public television, he assured that he prefers the current head of the White House, Joe Bidenbut Donald Trump as the President of the United States.

“Biden. He is a person with more experience, predictable, an old-school politician,” the head of the Kremlin answered a question from Pavel Zarubin, a well-known Russian television host.

Putin made these comments after giving an interview last week to American journalist Tucker Carlson, who is considered the standard bearer of the “Trumpist” cause.

Putin defends Biden
“But we will work with any American leader in whom the American people have confidence,” he emphasized.

Putin defended Biden in the face of speculation about his state of health and recalled that when they last met in June 2021 in Geneva, they “already said he was not capable” of performing his duties.

“I didn’t see any of that. Well, yes, he was looking at his paper, and to be honest, I was looking at mine. And the fact that once when he was getting out of the helicopter he hit his head, what’s wrong with you, we don’t “Who is without sin, let him cast the first stone,” Putin said.

He linked the criticism to the fact that “in the US, the internal political campaign, the election campaign, is getting stronger.”

“This is taking increasingly sharp forms. in my opinion “It is not right for us to interfere in that process.said Putin, who weeks ago accused Biden of fraudulently winning the 2020 election by manipulating the mail-in vote.

The Russian leader emphasized that Moscow should not focus on the health of its American counterpart, but on the “political position” of his administration, which he considers “harmful and wrong.”

Compliment for Trump
Alluding to fears that Trump will return to the White House, Putin pointed out that the former American president “has always been considered a politician outside the system.”

“He has his own point of view on how the US should develop relations with its allies,” he said.

He recalled that Trump abandoned the Kyoto Protocol in an attempt to make Europeans understand that they must increase defense spending in exchange for the American “nuclear umbrella.”

“Certainly, from their point of view, there is some kind of logic,” he said, asserting that NATO is “an instrument of American foreign policy.”

Trump reacted quickly and, contrary to what could be expected, considers the fact that Putin prefers Biden “a good thing”.

“Actually, Putin just gave me a big compliment. He said he prefers Biden to be president. It’s a compliment,” he said during an election event in South Carolina, according to ABC.

And he warned that Putin wants Biden to stay in office. White Housesince then will let him keep Ukraine, a war that, he claimed, would never have started with him in power.

He regrets that the war did not start earlier
In response to Western criticism of the interview with Carlson, he replied that he had never said that the military campaign in Ukraine was a response “to the threat of a NATO attack on Russia.”

The only thing we can regret is that we did not start military operations earlier, thinking that we were dealing with decent people, he said.

While reminding that Kiev bears responsibility for not respecting peace agreements and for eight years of continuous attacks on pro-Russian territories, he pointed out that Russia did not start the war and only wants to end it.

“In the first phase, we tried to do it by peaceful means, with the help of the Minsk agreement,” he said.
