Fascists marched through the Jewish Quarter with Hitler leaflets: 24 ads in Italy US House of Representatives votes to impeach Homeland Security Secretary

In the northern Italian city of Ferrara, a group of uniformed neo-fascists marched through the Jewish quarter in uniform, distributing leaflets glorifying the two dictators Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, according to police reports.

During a raid against the right-wing extremist scene there, additional propaganda literature was found in several apartments on Wednesday Knives and batons seized. There were also criminal charges against a total of 24 suspects – all Italians between the ages of 24 and 30 – for glorifying fascism and inciting racial hatred.

According to police, the parade through the Jewish quarter took place during the Christmas period, but has only now become known. The men are said to have distributed pamphlets with images of Mussolini and Hitler, which also contained slogans such as ‘Many enemies, many honours’. Moreover, some of them allegedly made death threats in a restaurant against guests who wanted to stop the action.

The fascist dictator Mussolini (1883–1945) was in power in Italy for more than twenty years. At the time, the country was one of the closest allies of Nazi Germany under Hitler. The Jewish community of Ferrara is one of the oldest Jewish communities in Italy. (rbu/sda/dpa)
