Dead four-meter snake found in Berlin park Defense spending: Germany reports record amount to NATO

A huge dead constrictor snake has been found in a park in the German capital Berlin. According to initial findings, the animal found was a four-meter-long tiger python, the Neukölln district office said on Tuesday.

Accordingly, employees of the parks department found the significantly emaciated giant snake on Monday in the Hasenheide public park in Neukölln. Authorities say if the snake was alive when it was placed there, it would have been difficult to move given the cool temperatures.

Tiger pythons “are considered to be rather reserved and shy of people,” the district office said. However, keeping such a snake requires permission from the veterinary authority as the animals can grow to over two meters in length. The responsible authority in Berlin was not aware of any approved property in the district, so an investigation into the tiger python’s origins was conducted, the agency continued. (saw/sda/afp)
