Trump has a slight lead over Biden in a new poll

Former President Donald Trump leads the US President, a Democrat, by four percentage points Joe Bidenwho faces a presidential election next November, according to a survey released this Wednesday by The Florida Atlantic University (FAU).

The poll reflects a “change in voter support” for the current president among white voters (32%) and Hispanic voters (33%) that is “noticeably smaller” than he receives from African-Americans (63%).

The survey shows that 41% of registered voters support Trump, while 37% favor Biden.

Another 13% opted for alternative candidates, while 9% were undecided, and 17% of African Americans opted for Trump. These results are consistent with other recent polls showing Trump “steadily leading” Biden by margins ranging from 1% to 4%.

A close examination of the poll reveals “Trump’s strong influence among non-college whites,” at 52%.

“Trump maintains a convincing lead among non-college-educated white voters. This group has remained steady and largely unwavering in its support for the former president,” FAU political science professor Kevin Wagner said in a statement.

Trump also has “significantly more support from members of his party than Biden” than his own, “which poses a serious threat to Biden,” said Dukhong Kim, an associate professor of political science at the university.

According to this academic, Biden “Support must increase among African-Americans and Hispanics and traditional Democratic Party constituencies” to improve your chances of winning.

He must, at the same time, “increase his appeal among party members to increase his chances of winning the presidential election,” Kim added.

Likewise, the approval rating for Biden’s performance as president reflects a “challenging scenario,” since 38% approve of his management, while 57% disapprove.

The poll was conducted by the FAU Political Communication and Public Opinion Research Laboratory and Mainstreet Research 1,180 interviewed It was conducted from February 2 to 3 by SMS and an online panel of those voters, so no margin of error can be assigned, the pollster explained.
