“We have been preparing for months”: American talk show host Tucker Carlson will interview Putin

Vladimir Putin (71) will soon be interviewed by former Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson (54). The right-wing American talk show host, known for spreading conspiracy theories, published a video on X on Tuesday in which he explains the background to his plan. “Most Americans are uninformed, they have no idea what is happening in this region, here in Russia or in Ukraine,” Carlson claims at the outset. He wants to change that.

Carlson explains that the war significantly changed “global military and trade alliances.” This would cause the global economic order to collapse “very quickly,” including the dominance of the US dollar. However, most of the English-speaking world is unaware of this. “They think nothing has changed. And that’s because no one told them the truth. Your media is corrupt. They lie to their readers and viewers.”

The interviews with Ukrainian President Volodmir Selensky (46) are particularly exemplary. Carlson calls them “sycophantic pep sessions” and “government propaganda.” Politicians and the media promoted the Ukrainian president as “a new consumer brand.”

“You’ve never heard his voice before.”

However, no one has spoken to Putin. “Most Americans have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his goals are now. You’ve never heard his voice before. That’s wrong.” Instead, the American people have the right to know as much about the war as they want, even though the American government wants to prevent this, according to Carlson.

Last but not least, the American explains that he is not doing the interview to support Putin. “We are not encouraging you to agree with what Putin might say. But you have to know as much as possible and then be able to make your own decisions as a free citizen and not as a slave.”

Carlson was fired from Fox News last year without cause. The talk show host presented a well-attended evening show there for many years. He used this to spread conspiracy theories and false reports, including about Switzerland. Shortly after, he started his own show on X. (Ms.)
