Quest for Private Plane Crash for Costa Rica Continues How a Small Promise Caused Big Chaos in the UK – The Ticker

Emergency services are looking for more victims after a private plane carrying five German passengers crashed off the coast of Costa Rica.

On Sunday, searches were unable to find any more dead or remains of the crashed machine, the newspaper “La Nación” reported, citing the Ministry of Public Security.

“Weather conditions have made the search difficult today,” the statement said. The search is to continue on Monday. The current pushed the wreck further south, as reported by Canal 6 television.

So far, searches have found the bodies of an adult and a child. The authorities in Costa Rica did not initially say who the victims were. “There were five passengers and one pilot on the plane, a total of six people,” said Naranjo, aviation director. “Based on the dates of birth, there were also two children.”

The passengers were from Germany, the pilot from Switzerland, as confirmed by the Ministry of Public Security of the German News Agency. It’s about German fitness chain founder Rainer Schaller and his family.

The plane disappeared Friday night on a flight from Mexico to Costa Rica. Communications were lost as the plane approached Limón airport on the Caribbean coast by sea, the security ministry said. “The plane disappeared from radar about 40 kilometers from Limón airport,” said Fernando Naranjo, director of the civil aviation authority.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. The pilot never reported problems in contact with the air traffic controllers. Due to the small size of the plane, an onboard flight recorder was not required, Naranjo said on Canal 6. Investigators still hope the analysis of the debris can provide information about the cause of the crash.

About 28 kilometers from Limón airport, emergency services found parts of the fuselage, seats and several pieces of luggage. A video from the Ministry of Security showed parts of the plane, various backpacks and overnight bags, among other things.

“We are aware of the matter,” the Foreign Ministry in Berlin said. “Our embassy in San Jose is in contact with the local authorities to clarify the matter.” Not all victims have been confirmed, the identity is unclear.

According to media reports, the missing plane was a Piaggio P.180 Avanti business jet registered in Germany. She started Friday afternoon in Palenque in the Mexican state of Chiapas. The ruined city of the Maya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important archaeological sites in Mexico. Thousands of tourists visit the destroyed city in the middle of the rainforest every year. (sda/dpa)
