Record holder at the age of two: Carter Dallas.

Ross (35) and Jade Dallas (31) are currently on a year-long trip through Asia. Together with their son Carter, they have taken countless walks together. Their personal highlight is Mount Everest base camp, which they reached last October.

Special: her son Carter was there during the climb – when he was only two years old. “He mastered it better than me and his mother,” father Ross proudly told the British newspaper Daily Mail. This means the little one holds the world record for the youngest person at base camp. The previous record holder was four-year-old Zara from the Czech Republic.

Family trained with ice baths

Of course, Carter did not climb to the camp himself, which is located at an altitude of 5,364 meters. He completed the extreme hike in a backpack on his father’s back. When they arrived at base camp, two paramedics checked the two-year-old’s blood levels. “His results were much better than ours,” Ross said. To exercise, the family practiced breathing techniques and took cold ice baths – including Carter.

Why will so many people die on Mount Everest in 2023?

The family of three is from Scotland. In August 2023, they rented out their house so they could go on their year-long trip to Asia. First we went to India, from there to Sri Lanka and the Maldives and then back to India. In October they flew to Nepal for the record walk. Then we went to Singapore to celebrate Carter’s birthday.

Carter picks up languages

Ross Dallas says her son really enjoys the trip and finds the different cultures interesting. “He says ‘Sawadika’ and ‘Namaste’ – he picks up the language,” says the 35-year-old. “We love that he gets to know different cultures and plays with all the children in small villages.”

In addition to the walks, the family also went swimming with sharks and visited the Taj Mahal. “We hope we can inspire other people to see the world,” Ross explains. “It’s much better than just going to Tenerife.” (obf)
