EU states give green light to curb climate-damaging gases Death cult, welfare state, Christianity: this is how Putin maintains control over Russia

EU countries have the green light to ban many products climate-damaging F-gases datum. This concerns equipment for which so-called fluorinated gases are not absolutely necessary, such as refrigerators and air conditioning systems. The rules can come into force with the consent of the EU countries.

Negotiators from the European Parliament and EU countries agreed in October on stricter regulations to curb F-gases. The European Parliament also approved it about two weeks ago.

Fluorinated gases are human-produced greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. The EU decision concerns so-called partially fluorinated hydrocarbons (HFCs), which are the most common F-gases according to the European Commission. Production allowances for these gases must be gradually reduced by 85 percent from 2036 and their consumption must be completely stopped by 2050. In addition, the sale of products containing F-gases should be banned – if this is technically and economically possible.

In addition, the new requirements also ensure that ozone-depleting substances will be more strictly regulated. The ozone layer in the Earth’s atmosphere is important for people and the environment; it protects the earth against ultraviolet radiation, which can also cause skin cancer. Although HFCs do not deplete the ozone layer, they are significantly more harmful to the climate than CO2. (cst/sda/awp/dpa)
