Ukrainian energy supplier Ukrenerho complained of serious damage to key grids in the west of the country as a result of the attacks. The consequences are even worse than the Russian attacks between October 10 and 12, the company said on Saturday.

In view of the destruction before the coming winter, Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal warned of a refugee crisis. He told the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sunday Paper”:

According to Ukrainian sources, there were 40 rocket attacks on Saturday and the Russian side also sent 16 drones. According to Kiev, 20 missiles and 11 combat drones were shot down. The war in Ukraine has been going on for more than 240 days.

Zelenskyi’s advisor Mykhailo Podoliak said:

It is “important that we now not only determine very specifically what needs to be done, where should be invested, how reconstruction can be organised, but that we also think about how many, many years, yes, decades such reconstruction can take the world community,” said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in his video podcast published Saturday. Ukrainian Prime Minister wants to use Russian assets frozen abroad for reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the Russian border region of Belgorod complained about shelling from the Ukrainian side. Two people were killed in the border town of Schebekino on Saturday, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said. Eleven people were injured, four of them seriously. Gladkow said the shelling also hit energy infrastructure. He did not give details. About 15,000 people were temporarily without electricity, heating and water. The Belgorod region, along with other border regions such as Kursk and Bryansk, has repeatedly complained of fire from the other side since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.
