Why Donald Trump has a big problem now The Turkish parliament approves Sweden’s accession to NATO – you want to know that now

The ex-president may have won the New Hampshire election, but not the hearts of independent voters.

Nikki Haley was about to deliver her speech on the outcome of the New Hampshire primary when the media received the message: “Trump has now secured the nomination as the Republican presidential candidate.” The sender of the good news was not Donald Trump’s campaign team. Rather, it came from the team of his archrival Joe Biden.

Both the president and the ex-president have now likely achieved what an overwhelming majority of Americans do not want: they will compete against each other again in November. Nikki Haley wants to keep fighting. “The race is far from over,” she bravely asserted after her defeat in New Hampshire. However, her chances are nil and she risks making herself even more unpopular within the Grand Old Party than she already is.

If Trump were to leave for health or other reasons, Haley could still hope for a nomination. So she booked advertising time at TV stations in South Carolina for about $2 million. She was once governor there and the next primaries will take place there. But this should especially please the Biden team as well. As long as Haley continues, Trump will have to spend money and time fighting her.

Meanwhile, Trump can only be partially happy with his victory. His victory speech was neither triumphant nor statesmanlike and conciliatory. On the contrary, she was hateful. “Just a heads up for Nikki, she’s not going to win,” he said, adding a warning: “I won’t get mad, I will return the favor.”

The ex-president’s bad mood was not only because he had won less clearly than expected. The result in New Hampshire is also an indication that his chances of winning in November don’t look that good. An NBS/News and Register/Mediacom poll found that 43 percent of Haley voters will cast their vote for Biden in January. The Wall Street Journal now reports that Haley won about 60 percent of the independent vote.

A study by the New York Times/Siena College in the state of Iowa previously reached a similar result. Trump has clearly won there too, but there too, independent voters are leaning towards Biden. “Donald Trump is facing a major problem,” says the news portal Politico.

The reason for Trump’s anger at Hailey may also be that the former UN ambassador recently attacked him head-on and put his finger on the sore point: his state of mind. Fox News and Republicans are tirelessly harping on Biden’s alleged cognitive weakness and senile behavior. But it is Trump who is increasingly showing signs of senile dementia. Here are some examples:

Trump is also increasingly unable to hide his age on the outside. Although he brags about losing a lot of weight, photos from the golf course show that he definitely looks older without the orange mask. It takes hairdressers hours every day to pluck his little hair so that it covers his bald head.

Haley therefore emphasizes that Trump is not only too old to move into the White House for a second time, he is also no longer able to serve as president. “We cannot be responsible for someone being in this position who is no longer mentally capable of doing this,” she explained.

Ultimately, it does not suit Trump at all that the economy is on its way to a ‘soft landing’, that consumer confidence has improved considerably, that unemployment is at a record low and that stock indices are at a record high. The ex-president responds in his usual way: he denies the facts. He recently claimed that the official unemployment figures are fake – without a shred of evidence, of course.
