It is extremely rare for clan members to break their silence in court. It will be even more interesting if they do. According to ‘Bild’, Arafat Abou-Chaker (47) proved this at the end of last week in the trial against his former friend and business partner, the rapper Bushido, real name Anis Ferchichi (45).
Abou-Chaker allegedly locked Bushido in a Berlin office on January 18, 2018, attacked him with a half-filled plastic bottle and a chair and threatened the artist and his family. While the clan boss apparently does not shy away from violence with other families, he becomes even softer towards his own families. In court, he tried to paint the picture of an impeccable citizen and a caring father. Blick summarizes the most important statements. Abou-Chaker about…
«I was born in Kreuzberg in 1976. I have eight brothers and sisters, I am the golden mean,” Abou-Chaker told the court. His father came to Germany from Lebanon in 1972. ‘We are Palestinians. I think he was a cleaner at the hospital.” The mother followed the father two years later. “I was the first to be born in Germany.” Education was the mother’s responsibility. She was his ‘kindergarten’.
The future clan boss’s school and early professional career are unspectacular. ‘I didn’t skip school. Secondary education diploma. Diploma in administration and economics. Many studied. I didn’t feel like going to school anymore, I was more concerned with craftsmanship.” He graduated as a car mechanic, became a journeyman and worked in a company. How did he get on the wrong track? He doesn’t say a word about it.
In 2000, Abou-Chaker married his now ex-wife. The marriage produced three sons, who are now 22, 21 and 18 years old. “Despite the divorce, I have a very good relationship with them,” Abou-Chaker adds. «The eldest is studying, has two companies and is currently setting up the third company for kitchen construction. The young people are receiving training from a prosthetic manufacturer.”
With his current partner he has daughter Maria (10) and son Jakob (9). The partner is an office worker and a ‘self-employed person in the fashion sector’ who designs and sews evening dresses. Chairman Abou-Chaker asks what he wants. He answers: “May all ghosts stop, a normal life for my family.”
These days, Abou-Chaker says he lives by renting and leasing. In 2019, Abou-Chaker’s lawyers stated that their client had a monthly net income of 5,000 euros (about 4,700 francs). «If I work as a car mechanic again, it will be as a self-employed person. Personally, I really enjoy taking things apart and fixing them!”, he explains. He worked all his life, paid taxes and alimony for his children.
