In Pistoia, Italy, a wedding celebration came to a dramatic end on Saturday evening: the ceiling suddenly collapsed! Dozens of people were injured. At least five guests had to be taken to hospitals with serious injuries, authorities said.

In total, more than 60 people needed medical care. According to initial reports, part of the ceiling came down in a restaurant around 8:30 PM while the party was dancing. The cause was initially unclear.

The president of the Tuscany region, Eugenio Giani, spoke in the evening about more than thirty injured people who have now been taken to hospitals. According to authorities, several children are among them. The restaurant is a former monastery that is often used for weddings and other events. There is now a large hole in the ceiling. The ballroom floor was covered in rubble. (SDA/dzc)
