Russia launched 40 missiles and drones in an attack on Ukraine

Russia carried out another massive attack on Ukraine with a total of forty missiles and combat drones, of which Ukrainian defense forces managed to shoot down eight – seven cruise missiles and one guided missile – while more than twenty failed to reach their target.

“The enemy has launched a missile attack on Ukraine, using cruise missiles, air-launched ballistic missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, surface-to-air guided missiles and drone attacks,” the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement on Telegram. .

The Air Force, in cooperation with the PZO, managed to shoot down seven cruise missiles Kh-101/kh-555/Kh-55 and Kh-59 guided missile.

Specifically, Russia launched seven S-300/S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles from Russia’s Belgorod region; three Shahed-136/131 attack drones from Kursk; and six Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ballistic missiles from six MiG-31K aircraft from Tambov.

From the occupied Kherson region, Russian forces also launched two Kh-31P guided missiles from two Su-35 aircraft.

“More than twenty of all the listed air raiders that were not included in the downed statistics did not hit the targets due to active electronic warfare countermeasures!”, the press release points out.

Spokesman for Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ignathe pointed out on television that half of the six daggers launched by Russia did not reach the target.

Of the more than 20 missiles and drones that did not reach the target, he specified, they could have fallen in open space, there could have been an explosion in the air, or they could have fallen under the influence of the activity of Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment.

“Russian missiles are of lower quality and do not achieve their goals. This also applies to kamikaze drones. Let’s hope that this trend will continue in the future,” he said, as reported by the Ukrinform agency.
