The young woman bites into a piece of butter with relish. Then she treats herself to an omelet – with 22 eggs! This is the best diet for her, she explains. And that’s causing quite a stir on Tiktok. Some of your videos get thousands of views. One has more than 1.5 million views.
The woman in the videos is called Bella. Her Tiktok profile is called steakandbuttergal (“steak and butter girl”).
The ex-vegan praises her special diet in countless videos. And, she claims, it consists of just three protein- and fat-rich ingredients: butter, eggs and beef. According to her own statements, she eats 50 blocks of butter per month and 22 eggs per day.
Nearly 70,000 followers watch as Bella, who makes a living as a pianist in addition to her influencer career, strictly follows her nutrition plan. A typical day looks like this: In the morning there are ten eggs fried in tons of butter and in the evening there is beef and twelve eggs on the plate. When Bella is hungry between meals, she simply bites into a stick of butter. To avoid being too monotonous, we have scrambled eggs in the morning and poached eggs in the evening.
The blogger receives a lot of criticism for her diet. “I give you five years to live,” one user wrote. Another commented: “Jesus Christ, I could only eat two eggs max – and definitely not every day.”
Bella vehemently defends her bizarre diet. “I no longer have chronic flatulence, I am no longer addicted to sugar and I am no longer constantly tired,” she emphasizes. Eating only meat, eggs and butter has “healed her inside and out.” However, experts classify the so-called carnivore diet as unhealthy and recommend moderate consumption of red meat.
“We eat multiple food groups for a reason. These each provide us with a range of nutrients,” Rachelle Hirsig, nutritionist at the Hirslanden Clinic Aarau, explains to “Argovia Today”. For example, if a diet consisted solely of animal products, the body would lack fiber, which is important for gut health. “In addition, eating plenty of fruit and vegetables has been scientifically linked to greater happiness, life satisfaction and well-being,” the nutritionist adds.
A Swedish study published last year in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition proved that Bella’s preference for eggs is harmful. Test subjects who ate more than six eggs a day for weeks had negative consequences for their health. Accordingly, eating eggs is associated with a 30 percent higher risk of heart failure. (no)
