Criminal offense “undisputed”: Five farmers receive a report after the ferry incident with Habeck

Last week, hundreds of protesters prevented German Economics Minister Robert Habeck from leaving a ferry.

Nearly a week ago, angry farmers prevented German Economics Minister and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (54) from leaving a ferry. The reason for this was the planned abolition of subsidies for agriculture.

The Public Prosecution Service has now started investigating the case – and has already identified the first participants in the operation. Senior prosecutor Stephanie Gropp found clear words for the incident in the Internal and Legal Affairs Committee of the Kiel state parliament on Wednesday: “It is completely beyond dispute that we committed criminal offenses here.” But that’s not all: five criminal complaints have already been received.

However, according to the lawyer, some questions remain unanswered. It is unclear whether the protesters tried to break a chain of police officers after the ferry departed. It is also possible that pressure from behind was the trigger. (dzc)
