Trump’s election commercial is causing a stir

The scene changes, Trump is now seen with police officers. God needed someone who was willing to get up before dawn, save this country, work all day, fight Marxists, eat; someone who then goes to the Oval Office until after midnight to conduct state affairs, the voice explains. What is needed is someone strong enough to fight the Deep State.

The ‘Deep State’ is a recurring term, especially among conspiracy theorists. This is the assumption that another state exists within the state. Those who secretly have power over what happens. The conspiracy story: governments therefore acted under external control.

God needed someone who could call fake news what it is, it continues. The voice explains again and again: “And so he gave us Trump.» Trump shared the nearly three-minute video on his own social media platform Truth Social.

An exaggeration that clearly strikes a chord with Trump. Trump has long fascinated fundamental Christians. Christian nationalism is widespread in the US. A movement that, according to journalist Katherine Stewart, has long taken radical, authoritarian forms. Wage a war on democracy.

And a movement that experts say is extremely well networked: from politics to the gun lobby, the fundamentalists have spread their nets. A dangerous mix coming together in the Trump environment.

The video post on Truth Social is receiving support. “God bless President Trump,” some wrote. “The chosen one,” is what a supporter calls Trump and posts a photo of Trump being illuminated by a beam of light from heaven – chosen by God, or so it should suggest.

Spicy: Trump’s competitor Ron DeSantis had already released a video in November 2022 that bears strong similarities to Trump’s election commercial. In this too, a voice speaks from the beginning and announces right at the beginning: “And on the eighth day God looked down upon his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a protector.’ That’s why God made a warrior.” And that God-given fighter, the video makes clear, is Ron DeSantis.
