Two journalists killed in the Israeli attack on Gaza

Two more journalists were killed this Sunday in the Gaza Strip in an Israeli attack, among them Hamza al Dahdouh, one of the sons of the head of the Qatari television station Al Jazeera in the Palestinian enclave, Wael al Dahdouh, who lost a large part of his family in the Israeli bombings.

Hamza al Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuraya were killed when the car they were traveling in was attacked during a news broadcast in Rafah, in the southern Palestinian enclave, the Gaza government confirmed.

The government in Gaza, controlled by the Islamist group Hamas, condemned their deaths and condemned them Israel’s “failed attempt” to “obfuscate the truth” with attacks on journalists.

“We ask journalist and media unions, legal and human rights bodies to condemn this crime and condemn its repetition due to the (Israeli) occupation,” he said in a statement.

According to the Gaza authorities, their deaths bring the number of journalists killed in Gaza during the war to 109, which includes influencers and intellectuals.

However, the non-governmental organization Committee for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ) assures that during the reporting of this war, 77 journalists were killed, 16 were wounded, three disappeared and 21 were detained.

“I hope God protects you,” he wrote a few hours ago on social media, addressing his son Wael al Dahdouh, whose wife, 7-year-old daughter and another son were killed in an Israeli bombardment in the Nuseirat refugee camp. with other 21 people a few weeks ago.

Wael al Dahdouh was injured and his colleague was killed in an Israeli drone strike a few days later while reporting on the bombing of the UN school in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

Videos and photos on social networks show the journalist crying over the death of his son next to his lifeless body.
