The highest temperature measured at Wald Station in the past 24 hours was minus 21.9 degrees. Shortly before 9 a.m., according to the yr.no website, it was minus 29 degrees.
Last night “was probably the coldest in terms of what we are dealing with,” Martin Graneröd of the meteorological institute told Norwegian broadcaster NRK. In the center of Oslo it was even -21.5 degrees at night.
Northern Europe is currently being hit by a cold wave that will last for several days. A cold record of minus 43.6 degrees was recorded in northern Sweden on Wednesday – the lowest temperature recorded in January on Swedish soil in the past 25 years.
