They wanted to get on the ferry

Some of the group even tried to get on the ferry. But she left again and drove away with the Chancellor. Farmers have been demonstrating for some time against the reduction of preferential vehicle taxes for forestry and agriculture – now the situation has apparently escalated.

According to the “Husumer Nachrichten”, Habeck suggested to the demonstrators that three representatives could come to the boat and talk to him. However, this was rejected by the farmers. They preferred Habeck to come to them.

The police were on site with a large contingent and tried to get the situation under control. “We were surprised by the protest and ended up with about thirty officers on duty. But the situation could not be calmed down, the ferry with the Federal Minister of Economic Affairs had to leave again and return to Hallig Hooge,” a police spokesperson told Bild-Zeitung. However, the situation has now calmed down again. Habeck was on holiday on the North Sea -island.(a)
