Tesla’s monster truck has recently hit the US market. And experts were shocked by the design: In a frontal impact at a speed of 56 km/h, the body of the futuristic vehicle, which is made of ultra-hard stainless steel, barely deforms, Tesla said. Only the outer front part has some damage.
There is no crumple zone in the car – this means that the forces are transmitted unabated to the occupants: their bodies are thrown forward with the full energy of the impact.
Now the first real accident on the road has occurred, the New York Post reports. It ended well for the occupants, but not for a vehicle. A 17-year-old driver, driving a Toyota Corolla, veered off the road, crashing first into an embankment and then into the oncoming Cybertruck.
A photo on Reddit shows that the front end has been completely demolished and the airbags in the car have been deployed. Fortunately, the 17-year-old driver was not injured, according to police in Palo Alto, California.
The Cybertruck, on the other hand, appears to have barely suffered a scratch. However, the front part cannot be seen in the photos. There were three people in the Cybertruck at the time of the incident. One of them was slightly injured, but refused transport to hospital.
The first accident with the 5.68 meter long and 2.41 meter wide monster truck, which weighs just under 3 tons, ended slightly. However, experts warn about this when it comes to pedestrians or cyclists: a collision can have fatal consequences. (neo)
