Two killed in job seekers’ protests in Nepal These five countries have the highest child poverty rates

At least two people have been killed during a protest by job seekers in Nepal. The circumstances are still unclear, a police spokesperson said on Friday after the incident in which clashes took place between demonstrators and police officers. There were also several injured. Some participants set fire to a minister’s car and damaged public property. Police tried to disperse the crowd of several hundred people.

The protesters were young people who failed the required Korean language test for shipbuilding jobs in South Korea and were subsequently barred from taking language tests for other industries, according to police and local media reports. They therefore criticized the fact that the rules for working in South Korea, which is rich and popular with Nepalis, have become much stricter recently. (sda/dpa)
