Iran rejects reports of increased uranium enrichment. Woman and four children found dead in apartment near Paris – father on the run

Iran has rejected the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) findings on increased uranium enrichment.

Nuclear chief Mohammed Eslami denied on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic had increased production of highly enriched uranium. “We are carrying out our current activities within the framework of the rules,” Isna news agency quoted the head of the authority as saying.

On Tuesday, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi informed member states about the activities in Iran. Natans and Fordow’s production facilities have produced approximately nine kilograms of uranium enriched to a purity level of up to 60 percent since the end of November – compared to approximately three kilograms per month in previous months.

An atomic bomb requires enrichment to at least 80 percent. Iranian politicians have been emphasizing for years that they do not want to build nuclear weapons. (yam/sda/dpa)
