The British Navy warns of explosions near Yemen

The British Navy warned of two explosions nearby this Monday ship north of the important Yemeni port of Al Hodeida, it is located in the Red Sea and guarantees that both the ship and the crew are safe.

The British Navy received “two reports of drone sightings. About 15 minutes after the sighting, two explosions were observed about 5 miles north of the ship. The first explosion occurred at 3.20 GMT and the second at 3.25 GMT, approximately 50 miles northwest of Al Hodeida .”

In a brief statement, the navy said the ship was “in communication with coalition forces,” referring to the United States-led Red Sea alliance in which the United Kingdom participates, and reported that “the ship and crew are safe.”

The source added that authorities are now investigating the attack.He again advised ships to pass through that sea route “use caution and report any suspicious activity.”

The British Navy received “confirmation from the ship” that it was able to continue its voyage without further “suspicious activity”.

“All crew members are safe and there was no damage on board,” the source said.

No group claimed responsibility for the action.

Al Hodeida is one of Yemen’s main ports on the Red Sea, and the city is controlled by the Shia Houthi rebels.

In the last two and a half months, the Houthis have fired several missiles and drones against southern Israel, as well as against ships flying the flag of the Jewish state or owned by Israeli companies in the Red Sea and the Bab al Mandeb Strait. which is why the big shipping companies suspended their operations on that sea route.

The United States announced last week the creation of an international coalition to protect commercial shipping in the Red Sea from rebel attacks, with the support of Iran.
