There were very emotional scenes in the court in Munich: the 22-year-old defendant admitted that he had fled from a police check in July: he was driving without a driver’s license and had consumed alcohol and drugs. He fled at a speed of 144 km/h, ran a red light at high speed and crashed into another car.
A huge field of rubble was created, an 18-year-old man died on the spot, his seriously injured friend survived. He now testified as a witness in court. He is still mentally and physically handicapped.
After his description, the suspect asked to speak and, according to Focus, said in tears that he would give his life to undo it. “I’m so sorry for what happened.”
But these words of regret did not go down well with the 18-year-old witness. He replied to the speeder: “I will never forgive you for what you did. We will all never forgive you for what you did.” And his only wish for the future was: “I hope you feel bad for the rest of your life.”
The 18-year-old was returning from a festival with his friend. The dead speeder destroyed the young man’s life during its journey and caused great suffering to the survivor. According to ‘Focus’ he now said in court: ‘We both know that it is entirely your fault that it happened and that you could have prevented it. We both know you’re a coward.”
The police officers who chased the speeder also tearfully testified in court. The speeder also apologized. ‘I alone am responsible for what happened. You did well.” The verdict will be announced next Thursday. (neo)
